A Mechanical Development Engineer develops innovative and cost effective mechanical components/products for RF coil products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop and rapid prototype “state of the art” mechanical components/packages/subsystems for RF coil development for MR systems
- Working knowledge of rapid prototyping processes, machining and injection molding processes
- Support design for reliability, manufacturability, serviceability and cost
- Evaluate and coordinate with external vendor to support and provide prototype, pre-production and ECO mechanical package
- Prepare and review mechanical documents for product development and program release
- Work with RF coil development cross-functional teams including: management, program managers, electrical engineers, quality assurance, regulatory, manufacturing engineers, operations, sourcing, and document control
- Provide technical support to engineering team as needed
- Be a role model and lead by example
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field is required
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of previous experience in mechanical design, product development or related field. Electromechanical design experience is a plus
- Prefer experience in Medical Equipment Industry and RF coil development
Skills and Abilities
Required
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping processes as well as injection molding processes
- Understanding of RF coil hardware and electro-mechanical design
- Fully proficient with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Basic understanding of FMEA
- Proficient in MS Office software, Outlook and the Internet
- Clear written and interpersonal communication skills
- Quick learner with strong multi-tasking skills
Preferred
- FEA analysis expert knowledge using CosmosWorks or similar software
- Electromechanical design experience is a plus
- Working knowledge and support of Quality Management System deliverables in a medical device environment
